Metabolic Effects of Catecholamine in Chicken

Abstract
Certain metabolic effects of three catecholamines : Epinephrine, Norepine-phrine and Isoprollylarterenol were studied In tile chicken.
Both Epinephrine and Norepinephrine increased the plasma glucose levels after intravenous administration of 50§¶/kg each, the maximum increment being about 15f above tile pretest levels. Free fatty acids, however, showed no significant increment above the pretest levels. Isopropylarterenol exerted no influence on the glucose level, whereas FFA showed a slight, transientincrease after 50§¶/kg, i. v.
It is concluded that in the chicken the FFA levels in plasma are not regulated by catecholamines In the chicken.
